Shahrukh Khan and Aditya Chopra recreate the DDLJ magic? “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” (God has made the couple) is the latest chapter in the Chopra. A beautiful lady Taani (Anushka Sharma) loses her fiance in an accident and has to get married to a simple Simon with a moustache, Surinder Sahni (Shahrukh Khan). Surinder is a normal, colorless small-town middle-class man who declares “maine kabhi ladies se pyar naheen kiya” (i have never loved girls) who falls totally in love with his wife. She however, declares that she will never be able to love Surinder, who is naturally heart-broken.Since Tani is not in love with Surender, he decides to get a makeover and appears in front of her as Raj… just shaves his moustache and gets a spiky hair look. She thinks that he is a different guy, and eventually falls in love with him. Finally, she gets to know that Raj is Surender and… Happys Endings.

The biggest weakness of this movie is its storyline. Its extremely hard for a normal human being to accept that Taani fails to recognize her own husband because he's shaved his moustache, lost the spectacles and picked a funky hairstyle!!Even if we buy this story the movie is still an exhausting watch because it's such a predictable story and because the characters are so poorly developed. The strength(the only strength) of the film is the Surinder character whom Shah Rukh Khan plays with such genuine affection, you miss him dearly when the focus shifts to other roles in the movie.Aditya Chopra whose debut film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge(The movie remains the longest running film in the history of Indian cinema.) had everything a movie lovercould ask for.Though filmy romance it had smart dialogues and the lively characters. But unfortunately RNBDJ lacks both. The answer for the question asked initially is absolute NO.The duo fail completely to recreate the magic of DDLJ.If you must, watch it for the mindless comedies. At least the movie doesn't tire u in that part.
